How We're Different

All Natural- All the time

Most commercial honey businesses have a few “bee yards” in select areas with over 100 bee colonies. The massive size of these bee yards requires them to be in rural areas. Due to the lack of diversity of flowers because of single crop farms (mono-crop) these apiaries commonly feed their bees high fructose corn syrup water. This keeps costs down and is the equivalent of cheap fast food.

Additionally, most apiary companies will have one harvest at a time and mix all of their honey in one batch, no matter the location or quality of the honey product. We, however, have many bee yards with fewer colonies, often with fewer than 3 –10 colonies, and we keep the seasonal flavors separate to provide our customers with a wider variety of flavors.

We find that bees thrive better in urban communities rather than rural areas where bees can be exposed to mono-crops and their pesticides. Our honey comes from the heart of Manatee, Sarasota, and Charlotte Country, all from your neighbor’s backyard or local farms that practice organic principles. An excellent environment is created for the bees and a lush and fruitful environment for our urban communities through honey bee pollination. If we ever do need to feed, we ensure that our bees receive the best nutrition, feeding them honey water with added vitamins, enzymes, and amino acids.

Premium Artison Products

At Sarasota Honey Company, we don't just see our products as commodities. We understand that we are producing food, and with that comes a profound responsibility for the people who choose our products to nourish their families. We are constantly striving to enhance our products, from the bee to the consumer.

Unlike other infused honey on the market, our infused honey has all the health properties found in honey through our unique, careful process of making infused honey. To taste our product is to experience honey and reap all its health benefits as nature intended!

A Step Above

We don't “cut corners", instead, we add corners to make it possible to have bees in urban areas and provide the absolute best care for our bees. We often need to think outside the box to employ a person with special needs through special training, assistive technology, and other accommodations.

The result is a premium and truly artisan honey product, each location producing a distinct honey flavor that can change with every season. As a beekeeper, tasting the difference in honey from one location to another is an incredible experience. We want the community to taste the beekeeper's joy, so all our honey is made of nectar from local flowers; we don't pasteurize our honey.

Socially Responsible

We bring the best of the best to product development. Our goal is to support other small businesses and farmers both in the U.S. and abroad.

We actively seek out small farms that use sustainable and ethical practices. It is important to us that these farmers are more than fairly compensated for their work. We believe that when the burden of financial stress is lifted, their focus can remain on producing high-quality ingredients and deepening their commitment to our shared collaboration. We have provided beekeeping and sustainability training, as well as fundraising support, to the University of Florida, University of South Florida, New College, Florida’s Statewide Beekeepers Conference, and various garden and beekeeping associations throughout the U.S.

We have also partnered with Mote Marine Laboratory to aid injured sea turtles by providing 100% beeswax “bandages” and medicinal raw honey to support wound healing.
